BFM Exhibition | Because of a Bridge

2023年4月14日，2023第六届苏州·金鸡湖双年展·平行展「缘分一道桥Because of a Bridge」在苏州湾BFM艺术中心正式拉开序幕。开幕式由艺术家Nathan Pelton/苏平和策展人简尼主持，馆方代表BFM艺术中心创始人杨娅薇，策展人代表陈平教授，艺术家代表张玉瀛、Kimvi Nguyen分别致辞，宣布展览正式开幕！

本次展览由策展人、BFM艺术中心创始人杨娅薇发起，联合策展人、艺术家陈平，苏州市美协副主席、艺术家钱兆峰共同策展，著名策展人、艺评人郑闻担任艺术总监，邀请27位来自国内外不同领域，不同地域，不同年龄的艺术家，呼应古时文人墨客相聚题材的“垂虹别意图”，于2023年02月16日在吴江松陵垂虹景区附近的老东门城市更新项目内泰安桥现场取材，围绕文化传承与创新，环保，城市更新等社会热点进行创作，所有作品于本次展览呈现。展览贯通古今、中外、传统&当代，室内&户外，这种突破和创新的姿态，彰显了苏州艺术领域空前的团结和向外突破的决心。

缘分一道桥

Because of a Bridge

该项目灵感来自“垂虹别意图卷”，一场在当时来讲寻常的文人送别赋予了垂虹桥一份特殊的历史意义，而唐伯虎当时留下的这个图卷更是提供了一个契机，让一众历史文人以题跋的形式在这个图卷上相聚并留名，这在我看来是一份奇妙的缘份。

The project was inspired by great art work “ A Farewell on Chuihong Bridge” made by Tang Bohu, one of the most famous artist of Ming Dynasty. At that time, an ordinary farewell between literati gave the Chuihong Bridge a special historical significance, and the scroll left by Tang Bohu provided an opportunity for a number of historical literati to gather on the scroll and leave their names in the form of postscript, which in my opinion is a wonderful fate.

因为一个偶然的机会，我来到垂虹景区边上的“老东门”拆迁改建现场，并注意到这座桥“松陵泰安桥”。站在这座桥上，满眼废墟断垣野藤杂草和不愿撤离的老人，心中油然而生一种别离的感伤，可以想象在不久的将来这里即将焕发新生，但我们就这样要跟一个曾经的时代告别了。站在桥上一回头看，很巧看到了垂虹公园的古塔，突然想起了”垂虹别意图卷“的典故，然后一念而起，我想要在这里发起一场送别，和我的友人们，发起一场对一个时代的送别，致敬古人，也致敬我们与这个时代的缘份。

By chance, I came to the demolition and reconstruction site of the "Old East Gate" on the edge of Zhuihong Bridge Scenic Spot and noticed the bridge "Songling Tai'an Bridge". Standing on this bridge, my eyes are full of ruins, broken walls, wild vines and weeds, and the old people who are unwilling to leave. A sense of separation arises from my heart. It can be imagined that in the near future, here will be reborn, but we will have to say goodbye to a once era. Standing on the bridge and looking back, I happened to see the ancient pagoda in Chuihong Park, and suddenly remembered the allusion of " A Farewell on Chuihong Bridge”. Then I thought of it. I wanted to sponsor a farewell here with my friends, sponsor a farewell to an era, pay tribute to the ancients, and also pay tribute to our fate with this era.

我和我的朋友陈平、钱兆峰向我们来自不同艺术领域的朋友们 (包括绘画，诗歌，设计，影像，装置，雕塑，行为，表演等) 发起邀请，到这座桥来一次聚会，大家各自在现场表演或创作做一个作品，或是采风收集素材后回去做一个作品，聚会过程用影像形式录制做成一个简单的记录片，最后连同每个人的作品一起在BFM艺术中心展出。

My friends Chen Ping and Qian Zhaofeng and I invited our friends from different fields of art (including painting, poetry, design, Fashion, video, installation, sculpture, behavior, performance, etc.) to come to this bridge for a gathering. Each of us performed or created a work on the spot, or collected materials and then went back to make a work. The gathering process was recorded in the form of video to make a simple documentary to be exhibited at BFM Art Center together with everyone's works.

BFM ART CENTER locates in the CBD area of Suzhou Bay,being the first contemporary art space and professional Gallery in this area. Based on Suzhou Bay, it devotes to unite the forces from all the artists, art workers, art academies, art organizations and art lovers, to start from Suzhou City, to introduce Chinese contemporary to the world.
